Sadly Irwin Barker had passed away after a long battle with cancer. One of the greatest comedians Canada has ever had. He will be greatly missed by all in the comedy community. I leave his profile active as a tribute to all he has accomplished.

Irwin Barker is a Toronto-based comedy writer and performer. Currently Irwin Barker is writing for the hit TV show "Rick Mercer Report". Prior to that he was a staff comedy writer for the hit TV show "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". Irwin Barker started performing stand-up comedy in 1988 and has quickly become one of Canada's top headliner acts, with a wealth of original and clean comedy material. At the time Irwin Barker started his comedy career, he was already very successfully employed as a research consultant and University lecturer in Sociology. The comedy, which began as a creative outlet, gained rapid momentum and placed Irwin Barker in considerable demand as a comedy performer and keynote speaker. In addition to headline club appearances and performances at Comedy festivals, Irwin Barker is in considerable demand as a corporate comedian, specializing in clean and clever comedy for conferences, business functions and conventions. As a keynote speaker, Irwin Barker's client list is an impressive array of major corporations and national associations. Irwin Barker's approach to humour can be described as an analytical and unexpected approach to everyday life and work. Irwin's success on stage is linked to a unique stage persona which is very much a reflection of his academic and professional experience.
