PROFILE

HOJA performs a cappella — all of the sounds in their live show and on their recordings are created using only their voices. Each of the members sings a variety of different voice parts, including bass lines, lead vocals, tenor and baritone parts, vocal percussion, instrument sounds such as guitars and trumpets, and assorted sound effects. Great harmonies, energetic choreography, comedic delivery, and a diverse selection of repertoire are presented in a uniquely entertaining performance style. Their songs span every style of music, from doo-wop to rock, country to disco, nothing escapes the transition to a capella music. This transition is often quite humorous, and audiences find themselves enjoying styles of music they might otherwise not listen to. In the beginning, to ensure a high level performance, HOJA hired a number of industry professionals to help improve themselves as performers. Workshops conducted by these various professionals helped craft and develop the performance skills essential to entertaining audiences of all ages (Vocals, Choreography, Comedy, Drama, Sound Production and more). HOJA has wasted no time in establishing itself as one of Canada’s hardest working bands. Since their inception in July of 1998, HOJA has recorded four full-length professional CD's and performed for more than 2000 audiences nationwide.
